Hey! I am Wamick, your Students' Union Equalities Officer!

Wamick Officer

Introduce yourself:

Hello, I'm Wamick, and my pronouns are (he/him). I'll be your Equalities Officer for the year 23/24. Originating from the captivating region of Jammu & Kashmir, India, I bring a unique perspective to the table. Prior to taking on the role of Equalities Officer, I worked as a part-time Events Assistant in the Student’s Union, and it was during this period that I truly comprehended how one can find joy and learning in their work.

Apart from my responsibilities as an Equalities Officer, I've also had the privilege of serving as the President of the Jammu & Kashmir society. Engaging in various societies and sports clubs, such as Cricket, football, and more, has further enriched my student experience. Being elected as your Equalities Officer is an honor, and I'm eager to stand up for your interests throughout this year. Let's collaborate to create a more inclusive and diverse campus community!

Fun Fact:

Once I met a football legend, took a picture with him and didn’t know what his name was!! AND IT WAS Paul Scholes!

I can speak four languages fluently!

What did you study?

I have studied B.A (Hons.) Business Management and will be graduating this year! Also, I have done my placement in Manchester as an Administrative Assistant.

If you were a fresher student what’s your number one advice that you will give:

If I was a fresher student again, the number one tip which I would give is to get involved in different societies, sports clubs and events. If you do this, you will find amazing people around and have good memories. Also, there are many catch-up events where you can have a good time talking about your university life, your education etc. Moreover, I would also go to the Broaden my Bookshelf which is in the library where there are many books from different authors from different backgrounds and reading it is a healthy practise as it will increase your knowledge sufficiently.
