Huddersfield Students’ Union is committed to protecting the personal data of students, employees, suppliers and other individuals whom we might hold information about. The way we manage and process your data is governed by the Data Protection Act 1998. On the 25^th May 2018 this was replaced by the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and these web pages aim to explain how we manage your information in line with the regulations. Contract - As a student or staff member you will likely have a contract with us when you become a member or use our services which allows us to facilitate our obligations to you.

Legal - We are obliged by various laws including the Education Act and employment law to process certain data.

Consent - We may ask you for consent to us processing your data for marketing purposes or engaging with our platforms.

Legitimate Interests - We carefully balance your rights when we think there is a legitimate interest in us processing your data to support you.

The Union creates marketing and communications aimed to add value to your University experience. We send you this information where we believe there is a legitimate interest that might be relevant to you. Our privacy statements detail more information about how we use your data to communicate with you or where you have given consent to send you marketing.
