I am a proactive and community-driven student at the University of Huddersfield with a strong interest in creativity, communication, and building meaningful connections. During my exchange programme in Hong Kong, I gained international experience that strengthened my adaptability and cultural awareness. Alongside my studies, I worked as a photographer and social media manager for the Futsal Society, promoting events and building its online presence. I also represented the university as a Social Media Representative, sharing student experiences and strengthening community engagement. As a committee member of the newly founded Calisthenics Society, I supported the growth of a new fitness community while developing leadership, teamwork, and content creation skills.
I want to become an Activities Officer because I care deeply about creating opportunities for students to connect, explore new interests, and feel part of a welcoming university community. Through my involvement with the Futsal Society, my role as a Social Media Representative for the University of Huddersfield, and my work with the Calisthenics Society committee, I have seen how societies and activities can positively shape student life. These experiences showed me the importance of supporting societies, encouraging participation, and creating inclusive spaces. As Activities Officer, I want to help societies grow, support new ideas, and ensure every student feels confident getting involved.
My priority is to ensure students feel included, heard, and safe when participating in societies on campus. One idea I’m passionate about is introducing “This Girl Can” walking buses, where small groups of women can walk back to their accommodation together after activities if they feel unsafe travelling alone. I also believe in being approachable and listening to students’ concerns so improvements can be made. Some students may feel more comfortable speaking to another female, and I want to ensure they feel supported and understood. If elected, I would introduce a simple form where students can share ideas, request meetings, or provide anonymous feedback.
I'm a Fashion Marketing student passionate about blending creativity with business. I'm a member of the University of Huddersfield Netball 1st team and current Club President, and I also play netball outside university. With a background in competitive gymnastics, I now work part‑time as a gymnastics coach and spend most of my free time training or researching smarter ways to improve performance. I happily over‑indulge in books and food, and I pride myself on being a natural problem‑solver who aims to always put others first.
During my time at the University of Huddersfield, I've gained leadership experience as Vice President of Women's Rugby, President of Netball, and Vice Captain of the Netball 1st Team, roles that taught me to plan ahead while managing day‑to‑day challenges and diverse personalities. I've also spent three years organising photoshoots and events for my degree, developing strong time‑management skills and the ability to adapt to collaborators' schedules. Regular interaction with ActiveHud, the Students' Union, and Academic Leads has strengthened my confidence in handling situations professionally.
I aim to strengthen the relationship between the SU and societies through consistent, supportive communication that helps every club feel informed and empowered. With a strong background in sport, I've seen how inclusive, low‑pressure activities help students connect and build community, and I want to expand inter‑club events and collaborative fundraisers to encourage wider participation. A key focus is rebuilding enjoyment around campus events and social nights by prioritising student safety and exploring initiatives similar to the former safety bus to support wellbeing and nightlife confidence, especially as this becomes an increasing concern across the university.
Hi, I'm Sabih! I'm currently studying an MSc in Digital Marketing and am the President of both K-Wave and T'HUD. Societies have been a huge part of my university experience, from organising events to working with different communities across campus. I also love getting involved in societies outside of my usual interests, to learn something new and see what others are passionate about. I'm part of Astrology and Ice Skating, and I've been learning Korean for the past three years. I enjoy travelling, trying new things, and turning simple ideas into fun, chill events.
I want societies to be more connected, supported, and accessible for everyone. As someone actively involved in multiple societies, I understand the challenges committees face and the importance of creating inclusive spaces where students feel comfortable getting involved. My policies focus on strengthening collaboration between societies, improving support and recognition for committees, and making activities more visible across campus. I also want to reduce barriers that stop students from joining, such as attending alone or feeling overwhelmed. By focusing on community, wellbeing, and equal support, I aim to help societies grow while ensuring every student feels they belong.
Connected Communities: Bring more events into accommodation, uni buildings, and public spaces to increase visibility. Encourage more cross-society collaborations between hobby, sports, global, and academic groups through joint events and friendly competitions. Equal Access, Equal Support: Ensure every society feels supported by providing regular bi-monthly check-ins, attending a variety of events, and promoting societies of all sizes more equally. Valuing Committee Commitment: Recognise committee work through improved Society of the Month rewards and appreciation initiatives. Built to Belong & Balance Beyond Burnout: Expand inclusion initiatives, introduce a Society Buddy Scheme, support wellbeing-focused events, reduce timetable clashes, and provide anonymous feedback options.
I'm a motivated and approachable student currently studying my degree at university, with a strong interest in building an engaging and inclusive student community. Over the past two years, I've been actively involved in the Pakistan Society and sports societies, particularly Futsal and Cricket, which has helped me connect with a wide range of students. These experiences have shown me the value of well-organised events and opportunities for students to get involved. As a candidate for Activities Officer, I'm passionate about creating exciting events, encouraging participation, and making sure everyone feels welcome and part of the society.
Students should vote for me because I am dedicated, approachable, and passionate about creating an engaging student experience. During my time at the University of Huddersfield, I have been actively involved in the Pakistan Society as well as sports societies such as Futsal and Cricket. These experiences have helped me build strong relationships with students from different backgrounds and understand what makes activities enjoyable and inclusive. I have developed teamwork, organisation, and communication skills that will help me plan successful events. As Activities Officer, I will focus on organising exciting, well-structured activities that encourage participation and help students connect, socialise, and make memorable experiences together.
If elected as Activities Officer, I want to focus on creating more engaging, inclusive, and well-organised events that bring students together. I aim to introduce a mix of social, cultural, and sports-based activities so there is something for everyone to enjoy. I would also like to build on the great work already being done by the Huddersfield Students' Union by encouraging greater student participation and collaboration between different societies. A key priority for me is making sure events are accessible, welcoming, and memorable. I want students to feel excited to attend activities, meet new people, and create a strong sense of community.
Hi! I'm Zaki, a final-year MChem Chemistry student at the University of Huddersfield. During my degree I completed an industrial placement as an analytical chemist at Phillips 66, and I'm currently working on computational nanochemistry research at the university. Outside the lab, I'm the President of the Huddersfield University Boxing Club, helping organise training, competitions and socials that bring students together. I'm also passionate about music and regularly perform psychedelic North-African blues guitar at campus events. I love bringing people together, creating opportunities for students to get involved, and making campus life as exciting, active and inclusive as possible.
Students should vote for me because I combine leadership, initiative and genuine engagement with the student community. As President of the Huddersfield University Boxing Club, I have organised training, competitions and social events while working closely with other societies and the Students' Union. Since September, I have also been interviewing presidents and members from different clubs and societies to understand the real challenges they face, from funding to participation and organisation. This has given me valuable insight into what student groups actually need. I am ready to apply this knowledge to support societies, strengthen collaboration between groups and help make student activities more accessible and successful for everyone.
If elected, I want to focus on practical improvements that help clubs and societies operate more easily. One key issue I've identified is the lack of communication between committees. I would like to develop a dedicated platform where sports clubs and societies can connect, share ideas and organise collaborations. I also want to work with Active Hud to improve access to activity timeslots, as many groups struggle to find and book space. I believe in being pragmatic: this role is about delivering realistic improvements, not impossible promises. My goal is to continue the work of the current Activities Officer while making it easier for committees to organise activities and engage more students.
