Your Education, Your Voice. Vote Amber

Hi, I'm Amber and I'm 20 years old and an Undergraduate student from Middlesbrough. I'm currently in my final year studying Media Studies. I'm a big fan of Formula 1 and Musical Theatre (very different interests, I know) and my course allows me to use my interests within the course content. My current favourite module I am studying is Stars & Celebrity as this is because we take a deep dive into how celebrities gain a presence into the public eye and it is an important module for me as it helps me with my career goals.

Students should vote for me as I have always wanted to improve the University since the moment I started. I was an Academic Rep during my first year of studies and was also my course representative for my two years in my Level 3 qualification. I've always wanted to advocate for better changes and my three years at the University has not been easy due to the lack of funding on my course.

I want to improve timetabling, as my timetable includes gaps up to 4 hours which for the people on my course who commute, it's frustrating having to do something for 4 hours and find things to do during that time. Another thing I'd like to work on is helping the careers team have a bigger presence as plenty of students have told me it is difficult to get an appointment with them. More support is needed for final year students considering the current graduate job market.

Raising a cheer for education!
ig @lupin4education

Hi, my name's Lupin and I'm a 4th year chemistry student. During my time at university I've been involved in a range of societies including Rock and Metal, Creative Writing, and Cheerleading, where I was a committee member last year. My involvement on campus has led me to make so many new friends and develop new skills, and I've really grown to love the university community. I've wanted to be a teacher since I was 11 in order to make a positive difference in people's lives and becoming Education Officer feels like a natural extension of that goal.

Being a member of the SU Voice and Representation team has led me to realise how much I value working with students and advocating on their behalf. This role, alongside being a committee member and an academic rep, has given me both an understanding of how the university and SU function behind the scenes and a motivation to improve the systems that shape our education. University has changed me for the better in ways I could never have imagined and I want everyone to have the same opportunity for an enriching and supportive academic experience.

My aims are based on feedback I've heard from students across campus and I want to continue the work of the current officers to ensure every student gets the most out of their time in education, regardless of who they are or where they started. 1) A fair and supportive attendance system for all - helping students to succeed, not punishing them. 2) Clear and considerate communication from the university - open, honest, and responsive to student feedback. 3) Stronger support and representation for PGR students - every student deserves an academic community.

ig @zawiar4education

Hi, I'm Zawiar Saif, a final-year Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence student who's usually either coding, organising events, or somewhere on a sports field. I'm currently a Student Advisory Council member and President of the Pakistan Society, where I love bringing students together through big events and initiatives. I previously served as Head of Operations and have spent my 2 years campaigning for SU officer candidates before. When I'm not busy with societies, you'll probably find me playing for the university cricket team or jumping between badminton, tennis, and volleyball. I'm always up for meeting new people and making student life more exciting!

Students should vote for me because I'm committed to representing their voices and improving student life. As a Student Advisory Council member and President of the Pakistan Society, I've already been actively engaging with students and organising successful events. I'm a very approachable and social person who enjoys meeting new people and making friends, which helps students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns with me. I'm proactive, dedicated, and ready to turn student feedback into real action.

If elected, I will focus on improving students everyday university experience. I plan to address timetabling issues for more balanced schedules and increase support and accessibility for disabled students. I aim to create more volunteering opportunities, expand exchange programmes and placements, and help students gain valuable experience and global exposure. I will also continue supporting the Students' Union's ongoing projects to ensure they keep benefiting students. My goal is to make university life more inclusive, engaging, and full of opportunities for everyone.

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Voice for Education

My name is Numan, and I'm a final-year Business and Digital Marketing Management student. I am 22 years old. I am the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Society and work in the Students' Union Retail and Events team. I'm also a Student Ambassador and have previously been an Academic Representative, where I helped share student feedback to improve the learning experience. I've also worked with ActiveHud as a social media representative. Through these roles, I've built a strong connection with the student community and enjoy being involved around campus. Outside of university, I'm a big fan of superheroes and the values of responsibility and helping others that they represent.

During my time at the University of Huddersfield, I have grown both personally and professionally. When I first started university, I was quite shy. However, by getting involved in societies, working with the Students' Union, being a Student Ambassador, and previously serving as an Academic Representative, I developed strong communication and leadership skills. I also completed a placement year in industry, which helped me gain confidence, responsibility, and more teamwork experience. The values of representation, inclusivity, and student voice championed by the Huddersfield Students' Union strongly align with me, and I want to continue supporting students by serving as Education Officer.

If elected, I want to improve students' experiences at the University of Huddersfield. A key priority for me is to make tutor feedback clearer and more useful so students know how to improve their work. I also want to focus on better support for students dealing with academic stress, ensuring that help is visible and accessible when it's needed most. Additionally, I want to collaborate with the university on issues like timetabling and increasing student involvement in important decisions such as course development and staff hiring. My goal is to continue the work of the Huddersfield Students' Union while making education more centered on students.
