Description

Our Mission

To raise awareness about Palestine and to support Palestinian run charities inside of the country and throughout the diaspora.

Our History

The Freedom for Palestine society was set up over this last summer. As we the world saw the brutal impact the occupation has on daily life across Palestine. From the 14 year old siege on Gaza, to the check points & colonies across the West Bank. We can all see, what the occupation has done to the Palestinian people since the great catastrophe of 1948, which is more commonly known as the Nakba.

We are a group of students who demand that justice be served to the people of Palestine. They have stood strong against war, occupation, siege, massacre and expulsion for well over 70 years. We had a burning question, why has this suffering been so easily dismissed?

We were not alone. The Israeli Government’s increasing hostility towards Palestinians has met a resistance in the form of an international Palestine solidarity movement. The Freedom for Palestine Society aims to be part of this movement, acting as a voice for the millions of Palestinians living under occupation who have been forced into silence.

Our Aim

We aim to present the facts which go unreported in the mainstream media, about the harsh reality of life for ordinary Palestinians, due to the countless human rights abuses which these people face on a day-to-day basis. The Freedom for Palestine Society view our cause as a struggle against all types of subjugation and we believe that to truly help the people of Palestine and its diaspora we must Educate, raise Awarenes and Resist in any way possible.

Activity Group Terms and Conditions.

When you enrolled at the University of Huddersfield you opted into our services, which allows you to obtain an Activity Group Membership. For us to provide you with the best experience we will process your data for carefully considered, specific and legitimate purposes which are in the interest of delivering our services and enhancing your experiences as a member of Huddersfield Students’ Union.

Activity Group memberships can be bought at any time throughout the academic year, with all annual memberships expiring at the end of the academic year (31st July). For Societies, the total membership cost will ensure your society membership until this date, and may cover for example the use of facilities, equipment, and trip and transport costs. However, this is subject to each Activity Group’s budget.

This money is paid directly into the Students’ Union and goes straight back into funding Activity Group activities.  To find out more please email the Activities Team – activities@hud.ac.uk

Every membership will have a 50p transaction fee implemented by our website provider. The 50p will be added on to every membership price and you will pay it when you buy your membership, (for example, a society membership may be £10 for the year, but will appear as £10.50 with the transaction fee added).

There is a 28 day cooling off period following the purchase of a membership. Full information about this and refunds can be found in the Student Activities Policy along with other policies, on the Union’s website here:  Governance @ Huddersfield Students' Union (huddersfieldsu.co.uk)
