Who are We?

Huddersfield Christian Union exists for the benefit of all students, no matter their beliefs. We host events throughout the year to engage with students in conversations about belief, faith and Christianity.

Huddersfield Christian Union is a society of passionate, bible-believing students at the University of Huddersfield on a mission to share Jesus with everyone on campus through our events, drink stands, personal life and main meetings.

Our Mission

As a Christian Union, we are committed to giving every student an opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are affiliated with the University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) and comply with their doctrinal basis.

What's on

We normally meet every Monday evening, spending time praying and worshipping together.

Each week we aim to start at 7:00 pm and finish before 9:00 pm. Please contact us via email, Facebook or Instagram for more details.

Our purpose for our meetings is to be fuelled for mission on Campus as a united group.

We grow and learn more about Jesus and what he has done, and is continuing to do so that we can confidently tell our friends and those around us.

This year, we and other CUs across the country will continue to have Impact Groups, with the aim to support and pray for each other in smaller groups of about 4-6 people.

These will be a really great way to connect with the CU and feel looked out for, whilst learning more about God and his word. Last year we were back in person and we are exited to continue meeting face to face!

More information to come later this year!

In the meantime, check out our previous events weeks held in Febuary each year:

Local Churches

Community Church

Community Church is a vibrant community of people who are passionate about being together to meet with Jesus. We'd love you to visit us as we gather together on a Sunday morning. We are sure you will experience the presence of God as you meet with us. We believe that church is all about people - people of every age, gender, nationality and culture, which includes you! One of our visions as a church is to inspire young people. We want to help you get excited about God, about who you are, and the part you have to play in his plan. Our desire is to make you feel welcomed, loved and part of our community.

There is also an ‘Encounter’ group specifically for students and young adults.

Elim Pentecostal

The Elim Pentecostal Church, in the heart of Huddersfield, is an international congregation of all ages. Pentecostals by doctrine and practice, reach out with the good news of Christ in our services, through small groups, in schools and out on the streets. Our Sunday morning services offer you the chance to meet in a friendly atmosphere of both fellowship and worship. We are a servant-hearted church, providing practical care in the community and touching those on the fringes of society. Our desire to see people grow in their faith in Christ is seen in our weekly programme of events. These range from children's, youth and student meetings to an over 50s group. We have many small groups in different areas around the town as well as groups for men, women and different ethnic groups. we run training and equipping courses as well as having informal groups such as a football team.

Holy Trinity Huddersfield

We are a growing, all-age Christian community located on the edge of Huddersfield town centre.

Together, as a family we are committed to glorifying Jesus, seeking his Kingdom and living wholeheartedly as his disciples, praying that he will use us to share his transforming love with our friends and family, parish, and town.

As a community supporting one another we want to grow in the character of Christ and become a devoted disciple of Christ. We want to be able to reach out to all people and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to transform and guide them in their lives.

Whether you are a follower of Jesus Christ, or simply searching to find out more, we hope You will be very welcome at Holy Trinity Church.

Hope Church

Hope Church is a new church in town, as we only really began here in 2011.  We are Reformed, and Baptist, but don’t worry if those are foreign words to you. We believe that the Bible is fully reliable, that Jesus Christ is alive today and can be known, and we know that we have a message which is as serious as it is exciting for our Town and University. We sing a mix of contemporary songs as well as older hymns, led by our musicians. We believe that when the Bible is proclaimed to us, we encounter the Living God. For that reason, we’re eager to welcome not just Christians, but anyone else who wants to discover what Christianity is. We are very excited about supporting and having students as part of the body that is Hope Church. Should you choose to join us, we are keen to have you involved and serving the church and its local community as you grow in love for the Lord Jesus.

Huddersfield Christian Fellowship

We are an active, lively church, consisting of people from all different walks of life, with plenty going on and plenty of ways to get involved! We believe that every person has a part to play in reaching the lost for Jesus, and also in the building up of the body of Christ, and we want to ensure that those students who choose HCF as their place of worship whilst studying in Huddersfield, have every opportunity to grow and develop in their walk with Him. We have a real heart for relationships, and our aim is that students will be well supported both spiritually and practically, and that they'll be made to feel at home for the time that they're with us. To help achieve this, we have a dedicated Student Care Team who will help you with anything they can, from establishing new relationships, to finding accommodation, to settling into new surroundings after moving away from home. We run a free mini-bus service every Sunday morning to provide transport to Cathedral House from the Storthes Hall and Ashenhurst campuses. In addition, we have Soul Mission, a vibrant young adults' group that meets every Saturday evening at 7:30pm for teaching, praise and worship, fun activities, and good fellowship.

New Testament Church of God

Our fellowship is vibrant, loving, committed to the worship of God, and follows the basic teachings of the Christian faith. In the comfortable atmosphere of worship.  Encouragement for life is shared from the word of God through a variety of ministries.

The focus of our mission is to create opportunities for people to discover the ‘reality’ of a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether you are a committed Christian or just enquiring about the Christian faith, you would be very welcome to attend our services.

Situated in the centre of the town we are strategically placed to share the great news of Salvation, being only minutes from the Town’s main rail, bus & coach stations.
