In today’s diverse world, it is essential for us to come together and celebrate our differences rather than let them divide us. The B.A.M.E. Network offers a platform for individuals to connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges, celebrating the rich cultural diversity that makes our campus unique. Here, students from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds come together to connect, grow, and shape the future of the University.
Our strength lies in our unity. While each member brings their own story, heritage, and perspective, we are bound together by shared experiences and a collective drive for progress. Whether it’s lively cultural events, social nights filled with laughter, or trips to plays and museums, the Network is a space where fun, friendship, and belonging can flourish.
But we also recognise the challenges. Navigating university life as a B.A.M.E. student can bring with it unique hurdles—from feeling underrepresented in the curriculum to confronting microaggressions or systemic inequality. That’s why advocacy is at the heart of what we do.
Our Campaigns for Change
Two of our ongoing campaigns are paving the way for meaningful change:
Decolonising the Curriculum
We are working to ensure our courses reflect a wider range of voices, perspectives, and histories—moving away from Eurocentric narratives to create a more inclusive and accurate academic experience.
Broaden My Bookshelf
This initiative encourages the inclusion of literature by authors of colour across all genres and courses, giving students the chance to engage with diverse stories that reflect the world we live in. Explore the Broaden My Bookshelf campaign here.

A Space for Belonging
The B.A.M.E. Network isn’t just about representation—it’s about transformation. We are building a community that empowers its members, celebrates identity, and pushes for a university experience where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
So, whether you’re passionate about social justice, looking for a place to belong, or simply want to have fun and meet like-minded people—there’s a place for you here.
