Venue: Students’ Union, Floor 5, Student Central – Please bring our student card with you as this will be required for entry to the building.
What to expect…
You can look forward to a relaxed Christmas Day gathering with:
- Festive snacks, including cheese, crackers and seasonal treats
- Board games, free pool tables and table tennis
- A Christmas film playing throughout the afternoon
- A friendly, social atmosphere with opportunities to meet others
Arriving at University
Campus is currently closed for the Christmas period, so the University are opening Student Central specifically for this event.
Please arrive to the SU floor via the main doors to Student Central from the University Square.
You will need to swipe your student card to access the building.
Please arrive from 12pm onwards. The SU floor is up the spiral staircase in front of you when you come through the main doors.
There will be a sign and a sign pointing towards the lift too.
When you arrive at the SU floor, our friendly student staff will be there to meet you and they’ll also want to scan your student card so we know how many people are at the event.
At the end of the event
Please make sure any waste is put into the bins provided.
The event will finish at 3pm, as the building will need to be locked up again.
Please do listen to the student staff when they ask you to start packing up, If you are able to help them pack down the event, I am sure they’ll be very happy.

This informal and heartwarming event is specially crafted for students like you who want to embrace the joy of the holidays surrounded by good company.

Who is this event for?
This event is for ALL students and researchers, especailly anyone who is still in Huddersfield over the Christmas period.
On Christmas Day in the UK, most shops and facilities close and this event gives people an opportunity to get together and have fun.

- It will take place in the Students' Union, floor 5 of Student Central
- This is a free event, ticket details are below.
- Food will be provided, including snacks, cheese & crackers etc. Please detail any dietary requirements when booking on.
- There will be board games, pool tables, table tennis and a film
- Come along, meet other people who are still in and around Huddersfield over the Christmas break.

This event is FREE, however, please do book a free ticket so we know how many people to expect.
Accessibility Information:
This event takes place on floor 5 of Student Central (The Students' Union), you will access the building on floor 4, there is a lift available to floor 5.
There are toilets, including an all gender toilet, closeby.

Event Terms and Conditions
All Tickets are subject to the following terms and conditions. Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully and raise any queries with the Students’ Union prior to purchase. Purchase of any Ticket constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions on your behalf and on behalf of any person for whom you are purchasing a Ticket.
The Event
- All customers with a valid Wristband or Ticket must be over 18 at the point of Event entry or accompanied by a parent or guardian (please note this is for ticketed Events only). Valid ID will be required upon entrance of all events.
- You shall not bring all or any of the following into Students’ Union Events (this list is non-exhaustive and can be changed at any time): Fireworks, Sparklers, Drugs (excluding prescriptions), Any item which the Students’ Union considers could be used as a weapon (including sharp or pointed objects such as knives), Animals (except assistance dogs), Laser equipment.
- The Students’ Union reserves the right to refuse entry to and/or eject you from the Event. In particular, (but without limitation) you may be refused admission to or removed from the Event for any of the following reasons:
- For health and safety or licensing reasons
- If you behave in a manner which has or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other persons at the event
- If you use threatening, abusive or insulting words or mannerisms
- If, in the event security's reasonable opinion, you are acting under the influence of drugs
- If you have possession of drugs (excluding prescription)
- If you fail, when required, to produce proof of identity or age
- If you refuse to comply with the Event security searches
- If you breach these terms
- If your ticket is void.
- If before or during the event you have a complaint in relation to the event (including without limitation in relation to your ability to view the event), please contact the Students’ Union or a steward promptly since complaints are very difficult to deal with after the event.
- If the event operates a licensed bar you need to be over the age of 18 to purchase alcohol. Please be aware that if we think that you look 25 years or younger you may be asked to provide proof of age and if you are unable to do so you will not be served alcohol.
- By attending the Event, you give your express consent to your actual or simulated likeness being included within any film, photograph, audio and/or audio-visual recording to be used in any and all media for any purpose at any time throughout the world, the copyright to which shall be owned by the Students’ Union or its contractors without payment or compensation. This includes filming by the police or security staff that may be carried out for the security of customers.
- All guests are asked to observe and comply with safety advice, site signage and ‘No Smoking’ areas. In accordance with Smoke-Free Regulations, the tented arenas and other areas of any event are designated ‘No Smoking’ areas. Normal statutory rules and regulations apply and should be observed at the event and failure to do so may result in ejection from the Event.
- If any student is removed from any Event for any reason detailed in these Terms and Conditions the Students’ Union reserves the right to enact the Members Disciplinary Process as outlined in the Students’ Union Bye Laws, which can be found on our website: Governance @ Huddersfield Students' Union (huddersfieldsu.co.uk)
Specific Requirements for Access
The Students’ Union takes the needs of customers who are disabled or who have other access requirements very seriously and actively encourages people of all abilities to attend the Event. If you have access requirements for an event, please register your requirements through the email listed below and we will contact you to discuss them on an individual basis.
Cancellations & Refunds
At the SU we understand that things come up last minute and or plans change. However, we really do appreciate it when people let us know that they can no longer attend an event. In some case, where tickets are limited, it means we can release more tickets to students. If you change your mind about an event and would like to cancel your ticket – even for free events – please contact activities@hud.ac.uk or the person listed as the contact on the event you’ve booked on to.
If your ticket had a monetary value (i.e not free) then if you cancel your ticket up to 7 days before the date of the event, we will issue you a full refund.
If you cancel your ticket within 7 days of the date of the event, we will issue you with a 50% refund.
