Join us for Wild Science Animal Encounters on Friday 25th September 2026, from 11am to 1pm in University Square for a fun and interactive animal experience as part of Welcome Festival.
Get up close with amazing animals and take part in exciting science sessions designed to spark curiosity and encourage discovery. Explore, ask questions, learn fascinating facts, and enjoy a unique campus experience with visiting animals.
Whether you love animals or simply want to try something different, this is a fun and memorable way to spend part of your day.
Also, joining us for this session will be Crunchy the therapy pony! Come and meet Crunchy, stroke and cuddle her and take her for a short walk.
Crunchy is part of Pony Pals Equine Therapy CIC
This event is open to all students and is perfect for anyone looking for a fun Welcome Festival activity and the chance to experience animal encounters on campus.
This event is free to attend.
No booking is required, simply turn up and meet the animals.
The event takes place outdoors in University Square, which is fully accessible with step-free access and suitable for wheelchair users and students with mobility requirements.
Accessible and gender-neutral toilets are available nearby in Student Central.

The Event
Specific Requirements for Access
The Students’ Union takes the needs of customers who are disabled or who have other access requirements very seriously and actively encourages people of all abilities to attend the Event. If you have access requirements for an event, please register your requirements through the email listed below and we will contact you to discuss them on an individual basis.
Cancellations & Refunds
At the SU we understand that things come up last minute and or plans change. However, we really do appreciate it when people let us know that they can no longer attend an event. In some case, where tickets are limited, it means we can release more tickets to students. If you change your mind about an event and would like to cancel your ticket – even for free events – please contact activities@hud.ac.uk or the person listed as the contact on the event you’ve booked on to.
If your ticket had a monetary value (i.e not free) then if you cancel your ticket up to 7 days before the date of the event, we will issue you a full refund.
If you cancel your ticket within 7 days of the date of the event, we will issue you with a 50% refund.
