Hi, we`re a new club set up for the 2025/26 year so may be working on a more off the cuff basis the other clubs so please be patient with us.

Our Mission

 To spread our passion for ultimate frisbee and create a team or more of people to participate in the sport and improve there skills (and maybe participate in a tornament)

Who We Are

We are a small group of students from different schools at the University of Huddersfield, United to establish a Ultimate Club at huddersfield.

What We do

We aim to have 1-2 weekly meetings to teach and play the sport as well as regular socials and events

A principaled Community

A core component of the rules of ultimate is the spirit of the game. Requiring players to be honest, respect each other and have integrity. Competitions will have a secondary prize for the team that shows the best spirit and consequences for those that break it.

A casual atmostsphere 

Ultimate is a Non-Contact Sport where everyone is welcome to participate at there own pace 

A truly mixed sport 

Ultimate has mixed teams all the way up to the highest levels of intenational cometition as unlike other sports Ultimate neccesitates a range of skills over whitch no sex has a particular advantage.

All you need is youself 

Membership covers all related costs from equipment to hall hire all you need to do is put on some sporty clothes and turn up to the weekly sessions

 The official name of the sport is "ultimate" as "Frisbee" is trademarked however it generally referred to as ultimate Frisbee.

 

The basics 

 

Ultimate is a team sport based around the successful passing of a Frisbee/flying disc

It is played on a rectangular field with end zones at each end. A goal is scored when a player catches the disc in the end zone that their team is attacking.

Players cannot run with the disc. They move the disc by throwing to teammates. The defending team takes possession if the attacking team makes a throw which is not caught by a teammate (if the disc hits the floor, goes out of bounds or is intercepted by a defender).

Each new point begins with both teams lining up on the front of opposite end zone lines. The defending team throws the disc to the offense to start play (teams swap the end zone they’re attacking each point).

 The winner is the first team to reach a previously decided number of goals, typically fifteen.

 

The different Rulesets

Ultimate is split into two disciplines Outdoor ultimate and indoor ultimate

The primary differences being, that outdoor teams are 7 a side whereas indoor teams are 5 and that outdoor pitches are larger.

We will be playing the Uk indoor ruleset found here (Uk indoor ultimate rules) However due to its much higher popularity in the US most online content will reference their ruleset.
