SU Update:
The SU Shop is putting together a list of current vegan options and is planning to expand the range—starting with more plant-based snacks. They’re also working on adding a vegan cake to the new coffee and cake deal, ready in time for the Welcome Festival.
The University Catering team has confirmed there will always be vegan options available across outlets, including soups, salads, cakes, and a core option at the International Kitchen. They’re also adding vegan choices to the breakfast menu and will be publishing a full list of regularly available vegan items soon.
This means you’ll see more vegan options on campus very soon, so I’m closing your idea as completed. Thanks for helping make positive changes happen!
I appreciate that there is a dedicated vegan option available, but at the moment the range feels quite limited — especially for those who aren’t keen on curry. In many cases, vegetarian dishes could easily be made vegan with a few small adjustments, such as swapping dairy milk and cheese for plant-based alternatives. Making vegetarian options fully plant-based by default would significantly expand the range for those following a vegan diet, without much extra effort. It would also be great to see more plant-based snacks available — like chocolate bars, granola bars, buns, and cakes — as many of the current options still contain milk or eggs. With a bit more selective purchasing from suppliers, it's definitely possible to offer versions that are fully plant-based.

I agree, not everyone wants a spicy option. There are so many plant based recipes that could be made as a healthy hearty ‘base’ that could then if required have meat added to for the people who still eat meat too
